About Dr. Berman

Lauren is the owner of Authentic Voice Music Studio and one of our voice teachers. After 15+ years of private teaching in academia and multi-instrument studios, she realized the inconsistencies in vocal training across institutions. So many students were being “left behind” by teachers and systems that weren’t meeting their needs. Following this revelation she began to enthusiastically pursue professional development opportunities in the form of advanced degrees, training programs, and the abundance of memberships, literature, and research that is available to help us better meet our students’ needs.

Authentic Voice Music Studio was born out of a desire to reach as many students as possible by creating a network of teachers with the same approach to vocal instruction: comprehensive, holistic, evidence-based, and individualized instruction. In addition to her passion for teaching voice lessons, she is equally passionate about educating other voice teachers so that fewer voice students fall through the cracks. She believes firmly that every student has a voice that deserves to be heard, and that it is a teacher’s responsibility to help each student learn what their voice is truly capable of.

Lauren also continues to perform in both opera and musical theatre. Some of the companies she has worked with include: The Phoenix Theatre Company, Arizona Opera, New Orleans Opera, /kor/ productions, The Scottsdale Philharmonic, and Arizona Regional Theatre. She loves telling stories through singing, collaborating with other artists, and using her own performance experience to guide her students on their own path. She continues to study, learn, and grow everyday alongside her students.
